The more I read about depression, the more I have realised that people refer to it as a life threatening illness. This is through suicide, not a direct result of illness in the true sense of the word but nevertheless still a result. Having been that down, I do understand now why someone would do it. I never would but I do understand it.
When the illness becomes life threatening this is normally when the ruminating thoughts become too much, this is when the true fight begins. But as I have begun to believe getting this low may be a ploy by the body to ensure that you take heed of the message it is trying to tell you to relax and forcing you into such a state that you do just that. The life threatening effect of depression can be combatted through staying strong and trying to keep your mind occupied, just to sail through the rough seas ahead.
