This post is about how from a depressed person’s perspective the people surrounding me and others can help. I am going to start with if you think this is some sort of way to help cure the person then it’s not, because I dont think this is entirely possible.
But I don’t think it is the role of the people around the sufferer to help to treat in a way but just to support them and be patient…. the mist will lift. If you are extremely close to the sufferer then one way without seming to be hassling them too much may to be just do some research of your own on depression rather than asking them how they are and trying to get them to explain how they are feeling, which is often quite hard. See what other people have said because 9 times out of 10 people experience very similar symptoms. This may help your understanding and in turn help support the sufferer too.
Another route could be to look for other ways to help them, for instance activities they enjoy or used to, other treatments that are outside the norm such as hypnotherapy.
I think the main things are to be patient, understanding and proactive.
