http://www.guardian.co.uk/society/2012/mar/14/truth-about-depression six people discuss depression.
This article describes six peoples’ journeys through depression. The variations in people’s experiences helps to show how depression can creep up on anyone. As does the way different people deal with it and what works for them in terms of treatment. The variation on what works for everyone is completely different, for instance Nikki 29, said that she did not want medication and this led her to just tell herself to get better. Although I’m not sure this approach would work for everyone.
One variation through different sufferers is how persistant depression is, for some poeple it is a reoccuring event, whereas some people just have one bout of depression. This may show the variation in types of depression, just because the symptoms are the same does not mean the cause of the illness is the same and therefore the treatment that is used can never be the same!
